12 ways to save money while living in your van

Hey Reader,

Last night in Mexico we went out for tacos with some boatyard friends. Tom and I had five chicken tacos and a bowl of beans, complete with amazing salsas, limes, cucumbers, pico de gallo, and cabbage toppings.

Our bill was just $13, including tip! It helps that in Mexico, you can bring your own beer to taco shops like these, which really cuts down on expenses.

We see our bills go WAY DOWN when we live in Mexico compared to the United States. We drive less, so we spend less money on diesel, and groceries and meals are way cheaper.

Even in the United States, we've come up with a lot of ways to save money on the road. If you're not careful, expenses can really add up!

I've put together an article on 12 Ways to Save Money While Living the Van Life.

I hope you enjoy these tips!

Hey Reader! People love to ask me how I afford this life. Here are questions I get on my Facebook pages all the time: “Are you a trust fund baby?” “Do your parents pay for all this?” “Do you even pay taxes?” Yep, I’ve heard it all. In my latest blog post, I’m spilling the details on: The exact ways I...

Hey Reader! As we journey north through the Sea of Cortez to haul our boat out at the boatyard, I'm starting to think about summer van life adventures. I'm looking forward to easy access to hiking, jogging, and mountain biking, things that are harder to achieve with sailboat life. By the way, if you don't have a van yet, I HIGHLY recommend renting one before buying. Hey Reader! Today is the first day on our passage down the Baja Peninsula that I actually feel okay, maybe even good. We left Long Beach on Saturday night and haven't stopped since.
